FAQ

What does Lambda Theta Alpha do?
Lambda Theta Alpha is a mix of business, philanthropy, and sisterhood. We work hard to make our communities better through campus clean up, tutoring, mentorship and many other activities. We fundraise for our chapter, St. Jude Children's Hospital, Susan G. Komen and many others. Most importantly, we look out for each other as sisters and friends, spending quality time and really living the sisterhood.
Check out our News and Events page for more information about what is happening this semester.

Is Lambda Theta Alpha just for Latinas?
Lambda Theta Alpha is for women who want to make an impact in their communities, experience a true sisterhood and develop as professionals and leaders, no matter race or ethnicity.
Lambda Theta Alpha's members pride themselves on our diversity in everything from socio-economic status, religion, looks and everything in between. What makes us similiar is our diligence and committment to all that we do.

Is Lambda Theta Alpha expensive?
As with most organizations, there is a financial component to membership, but it is important to Lambda Theta Alpha to not deter membership because of financial status. LTA works hard to keep costs low for our members.

How do I join?
Lambda Theta Alpha hosts weekly meetings of the Interested Ladies of Lambda Theta Alpha. The Interested Ladies is a satellite group of LTA that gives women the opportunity to experience a little of what it is like to be a sister of Lambda Theta Alpha. Though having time in the Interested Ladies of Lambda Theta Alpha is encouraged, it is not required for membership. Check out this page for more information.

Does Lambda Theta Alpha take up a lot of time?
With all things valuable, time and effort are part of the package. Because our chapters are typically small, we do work hard to improve our communities and campuses. But the hard work we put in is miniscule in comparison to what we get in return. Not only are we committed to our organization, but our organization is committed to us.

What is saluting?
Saluting is a tradition unique to Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. Saluting is a means by which members of an organization can praise a particular member within their organization or to honor the organization's past and current accomplishments. Members write a salute, and tend to include words of modern-day songs. Once they have the text, they proceed to add motions to the salute. Typically, if there is more than one person performing a salute, the members will synchronize their movements. Saluting symbolizes unity and respect.
